Fall dates coming soon
Look for this in the fall! Challenge Island In our Antarctic Penguin Sled STEAM workshop, students will feel like they've traveled to Antarctica to learn about the geography there as well as some of its most famous residents, the penguins. We'll learn about types of penguins, how they stay warm and how they move around, then we'll use the powers of friction and momentum to create our own "penguin sleds" that we'll race down the local slopes! This workshop is designed for students in grades K-5, and is an opportunity to build skills & learning in STEAM fundamentals (science, technology, engineering, arts, math), cross-curricular topics and also teamwork skills, as students work in small teams ("tribes") to build and experiment in a supportive, positive environment. Cost is $20, which includes all materials, and registration is available here. Participation is open to all students; bring your friends, and we hope you can join us on Challenge Island!
Thank you to all that donated. All funds will help our scholarship students receive 1:1 tutoring. We have partnered with Neighborhood House and RAYA in order to better serve struggling families in our community.
All tutors will be wearing masks and we will have additional masks for students, if they choose to wear one. We realize that for some children it will be difficult for them to wear a mask which is why we are not manadating them to do so.
Tutors and students will sit opposite each other at a table.
All students must either wash their hands or sanitize them upon arrival.
All surfaces will be sanitized after each student.
Hand sanitizer will be available in every room.
If possible, please do not bring siblings or wait in our waiting room. We ask that you wait in your vehicles.
When possible, only students should enter the building/Center.
For now, please try to have your child bring their own writing utensil
Please keep your child home if he/she is not feeling well.
Please remind your child to cough into their elbow.
We will have additional office space across the hall in order to spread out.
